Meeting at the Chamber with the Ambassador of India

 A working meeting was held at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia between the Vice President of the Chamber, Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska, and the Ambassador of the Republic of India accredited to our country and based in Sofia, H.E. Arun Kumar Sahu.

The discussion focused on identifying concrete opportunities for cooperation between Indian and Macedonian companies, particularly in the areas of technology, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the construction sector, and energy innovations.

Dr. Georgieva-Jovevska informed the Ambassador about the Chamber’s regional-level capacities and emphasized that the Chamber is prepared to initiate business events and connect companies not only from the two countries but also from the Western Balkan region, with the aim of fostering long-term partnerships.

Ambassador Sahu emphasized the openness of the Indian business community to strengthen its presence in the Balkans and recognized North Macedonia as a stable and promising investment destination. He expressed interest in organizing a business forum in India, which would host companies from Macedonia as well as from across the Balkans.

Trade exchange North Macedonia and India in the period January–September 2025 amounted to USD 91.3 million, marking a 19% increase compared to 2024. Exports reached USD 4.53 million (+29%), imports USD 86.7 million (+18%), with a trade deficit of USD 82.2 million.

India ranks 28th among the country’s foreign trade partners. The most common export products include electric motors, vehicle parts, and weaving machines. Imports are dominated by tractors, antibiotics, ceramic tiles, telephone devices, sesame, and medicines.
