Ambassador of the Argentine Republic Alejandro Zothner Meyer Visits the Economic Chamber

 The Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, H.E. Alejandro Zothner Meyer, accredited to North Macedonia with residence in Sofia, paid a working visit to the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, where he held a meeting with the Chamber’s Vice President, Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska, who also serves as Infrastructure and Economic Development Advisor to the Chamber President.

The meeting focused on enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries and exploring opportunities to stimulate business contacts between companies from North Macedonia and Argentina. Special emphasis was placed on trade and investments, as well as potential sectors for joint projects, including agribusiness, the food industry, energy, and tourism.

Ambassador Zothner Meyer highlighted Argentina’s readiness to strengthen its presence in the Macedonian market and deepen its ties with the business community, noting that there are real opportunities for increasing exports and imports, as well as for joint investments.

Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska emphasized the Chamber’s role in facilitating communication between companies and the possibility of organizing business forums and company presentations to help better showcase market potential. The Vice President also conveyed the Chamber’s readiness to provide support for any initiative that contributes to the development of bilateral economic cooperation. The meeting included concrete proposals aimed at supporting and encouraging companies from both countries to initiate new partnerships and joint projects.

Both sides concluded that the two friendly countries possess significantly greater potential for cooperation than currently realized, with opportunities not only for increased trade in goods but also for the exchange of knowledge and resources.

According to available data, the total trade between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Argentina in the period January–September 2025 amounts to 19.1 million USD, representing an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period in 2024. During this period, exports from the RNM to Argentina reached 452 thousand USD, marking a 5.1% increase, while imports from Argentina amounted to 18.6 million USD, a slight increase of 0.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2024. The most common products in exports were tobacco and electric motors, while imports mainly consisted of soybean oil cakes, frozen hake, lemons and limes, peanuts, and poultry eggs.
