The situation with Makprogres comes at a time when the promotion of the “Macedonian - The Best” campaign is being launched. At a working meeting with representatives of the business sector, led by Chamber President Azeski, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunov, emphasized that this campaign aims to raise national awareness about domestic products.
Following economic indicator analyses, which in part show a downward trend, the Government devised and launched the campaign titled “Macedonian - The Best” to raise consumer awareness of domestic food products and stimulate domestic production. By acting together—the Government, the Ministry, and the business sector—trust will be restored in our knowledge, our labor, and our potential, while ensuring that money stays within the domestic economy. The Government will play its role in promotion, support, and the creation of a favorable business climate; companies will play their role in producing high-quality products; and we, as citizens, have the most important role—the power to choose.
Initially, the campaign covered only primary producers, but now—in the next phase—it will also include the manufacturing industry.
President Branko Azeski stressed that what we lack is a clear goal, namely, the increase of Gross Domestic Product. Only in this way can we revitalize the domestic economy. This is not a call for a closed economy, but for open self-confidence. This campaign is a call for all of us—the Government, business, and citizens—to unite around a common goal: the prosperity of our country.
Through the purchase of Makprogres products in the coming period, and in line with the calls seen on social media, such unity should become a practice in situations like these, which, unfortunately, leave serious marks on various levels of functioning (social, personal, economic, etc.).
Chamber President Branko Azeski, addressing the impact of the Makprogres fire on the domestic economy, on the company’s operations, and on the survival of its employees, spoke before the members of the Management Board (Tuesday, 9 September 2025). He noted that a crisis headquarters has been formed, an initial analysis has been made, and in cooperation with Makprogres, an action plan is being developed both for the domestic and regional markets to do everything possible to minimize the grave consequences.
