Under the motto “What if you can do everything,” NLB Banka Skopje marked an important jubilee – 40 years since its founding. From a small financial organization with roots dating back to 1985, NLB Banka today is one of the three leading banks in Macedonia, recognized for its innovation, stability, and strong contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
With a clear strategic vision, NLB Banka positioned itself as the third-largest bank in the country, holding a 16% market share in the banking sector’s assets and 2 billion euros in total assets, representing 14% of the country’s GDP. The Bank is deeply rooted in the local economy, actively supporting the real sector, citizens, and sustainable development.
In recent years, NLB Banka has set standards in digital banking, corporate governance, and sustainable finance. Key business figures include:
- Total credit portfolio at the end of 2024: 1.4 billion euros;
- In 2024 alone, 560 million euros in new loans were issued;
- 35% of the portfolio (506 million euros) consists of corporate loans, of which 44% are intended for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
At the international conference NLBNext – “The Future of Banking”, the Chair of the Management Board, Toni Stojanovski, emphasized that the core purpose of NLB Banka goes beyond numbers — it lies in its impact on society, its added value through paid salaries, the preservation of jobs, and the community in which we grow together. He highlighted that “this is why we are the bank for everything that follows – ready for new technologies and for the constantly changing needs of our clients.”
Zoran Jovanovski, member of the Supervisory Board, emphasized the bank’s investment in digitalization — 1.6 million euros in 2024 alone. Today, over 471,000 active clients trust NLB Banka, including 453,000 individuals and more than 17,000 corporate clients:
- 134,000 citizens receive their salary through the bank (every fourth employee in the country);
- 81,000 pensioners receive their pensions;
- 42,000 users receive social benefits.
The Bank is a leader in ESG implementation: two-thirds of all transactions are digital, paper usage has been cut in half, and in 2024 alone, 500,000 euros were invested in more than 50 socially responsible projects. Additionally, 660,000 euros and 55,000 training hours were invested in employee development.
After 40 years, NLB Banka Skopje is not only celebrating its past — it is confidently stepping into the future.
