In April 2024, in a major interview for Economy and Business, the President of the Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski, spoke among other things about the situation in the country, the economic potential of companies, and the Chamber’s strategic documents.
The country must rest on values, not on absurdities. Isn’t it absurd that a holding company is still not legally defined, that you have construction companies that have built all over the world, yet cannot build their own country; that you import labor from Nepal and Bangladesh while “exporting” skilled labor to the European Union? We have not built even a single kilometer of railway line on our own territory (the line to Thessaloniki was built during the Ottoman Empire, the line to Bitola during Serbian rule, and the line to Kochani during Bulgarian rule). It is unrealistic to expect rapid development of a country if it is not prepared to build functional infrastructure for business.
