On 16 June, representatives from several financial companies in the country participated in a workshop organized by the World Bank, in cooperation with the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia. The event brought together participants from the central bank, financial service providers, industry associations, and non-governmental organizations.
The workshop, led by Aaron Korenewsky, External Affairs Officer with the World Bank’s External and Corporate Relations Office in Washington, aimed to train professionals on how to design and implement successful financial education and awareness campaigns from a communications perspective.
The participation of representatives from financial companies, along with participants from the central bank, the banking sector, and NGOs, enabled active discussion and experience-sharing around the challenges and opportunities for improving financial literacy in the country, as well as for bringing complex financial topics closer to the general public. Representatives from the financial companies contributed meaningfully to the goals of the workshop, given their role as direct providers of financial services to citizens.
This workshop marks the beginning of more intensive cooperation toward advancing financial education in the Republic of North Macedonia, as part of the Remittances and Payments Program funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Initiatives such as this are crucial for building a more informed and financially healthy society.
