Strengthening Quality Infrastructure – Azeski Meets with Representatives from the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) and SWEDAC

04/03/2025

As part of their visit to North Macedonia, representatives from the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) and SWEDAC—the national body for accreditation, legal metrology, and market surveillance in Sweden—held a meeting with a delegation from the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, led by President Branko Azeski.

The meeting focused on opportunities to enhance the country’s quality infrastructure, as well as the importance of standardization, accreditation, metrology, and testing laboratories in supporting the competitiveness of Macedonian companies. The Swedish representatives shared their experience in developing regulations and systems that ensure higher quality and increased trust in the business environment.

Azeski emphasized that aligning with EU and international standards is crucial for Macedonian companies in the EU integration process, particularly for those with an export-oriented focus.

"The Economic Chamber is well-equipped—both in terms of personnel and financial resources—to support companies in the standardization process. The Chamber will be an active partner in implementing projects that contribute to strengthening quality infrastructure in the country, creating better conditions for economic growth and development," Azeski stated.

This meeting marks an initial step toward potential collaboration between Macedonian institutions and Swedish partners, with further analyses and concrete joint activities to follow in the near future.
