The President of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, Branko Azeski, visited the metallurgical companies Liberty AD Skopje and Makstil AD Skopje, located within the industrial steel complex Zhelezara. The visit aimed to deepen collaboration with this strategic sector and to emphasize the Chamber's role as a key partner in supporting companies in their efforts toward growth, development, and enhanced competitiveness.
During separate meetings with the directors of the companies, Todorka Ristovska of Liberty AD Skopje and Marija Pavlovska Dukovska of Makstil AD Skopje, discussions highlighted the need for support to secure favorable investment conditions. The meetings also addressed key challenges facing the metallurgical industry, such as global market shifts and the increasing demands for sustainability.
Speaking on the importance of the metallurgical sector to the overall economy, Azeski stressed that the Chamber would continue to act as a partner to the companies in their efforts toward growth and development. He noted that metallurgy is one of the most significant export sectors, and the Chamber would intensify efforts to secure measures that enhance exports through support for new investments and improvements in working conditions.
Makstil AD Skopje is a Macedonian steel producer with a long industrial tradition. Its production process includes a steel plant with an electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, and a continuous caster, as well as a rolling mill for hot-rolled heavy plates. The company operates in over 40 countries, with the majority owned by DITH.
Liberty AD Skopje employs 480 people and has an annual production capacity of 750,000 tonnes of cold-rolled steel, 200,000 tonnes of galvanized steel, and 77,000 tonnes of pre-painted steel. The company serves clients in the construction and general industries across the Balkans and Southeastern Europe.
