VIDEO INTERVIEW: Azeski for Sloboden Pechat – Companies Show Interest in Loans from Hungarian Funds

18/10/2024

In an interview with Sloboden Pechat, the President of the Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski, discusses the anticipated increase in investment activity in the country and the need for capital investments to be executed without any “chicanery.” He also announced that companies experiencing delays in VAT refunds have the Chamber's support to sue the government.

Azeski is optimistic that the government will meet its obligations agreed upon with businesspeople. One of these measures is the line of credit from Hungary, part of which will be allocated to support the economy. According to Azeski, any financial support, especially through favorable loans, is a positive step, and companies with suitable projects for credit support have already been identified.

“The delay in VAT refunds, which should legally be returned within 30 days, is a problem for the economy. Companies have the right to appeal, and the Chamber stands behind them,” Azeski emphasized.

He added that the business community expects the government to promptly initiate the reform process despite the time constraints due to the formation of new ministries and the summer period.

In the interview, Azeski highlighted four key topics agreed upon with the government:

  1. Provision of a credit line from Hungary.
  2. The budget for next year and the tax calendar.
  3. Inclusion of Macedonian companies in the Bechtel-ENKA project.
  4. Implementation of capital investments without reallocation or “chicanery.”
