The Public Utilities Association at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, in cooperation with the Groundwater Management, Use and Protection Program (GWP), organized an info-session dedicated to opportunities for collaboration and the development of concrete initiatives benefiting utility sector companies.

The objective of the meeting was to explore avenues for joint action in areas crucial to business and sustainable water resource management, placing particular emphasis on human resources development, enhancing practical skills, and aligning education with the real-world needs of the industry.

During the info-session, three specific areas for potential cooperation were presented and discussed:

·       Human Resources Development and Lifelong Learning: The meeting examined the potential for developing flexible lifelong learning programs and specialized qualification pathways tailored to the specific needs of companies and shifting labor market demands.

·       More Sustainable Use of Water Resources: Special focus was placed on the possibility of carrying out a pilot project for industrial water harvesting and reuse, serving as a practical model for more efficient and sustainable water resource management.

·       Bridging Universities and Industry: Linking academia and businesses through student practical work was highlighted as an essential priority for future cooperation. This would enable young professionals to gain hands-on expertise and work experience, while allowing companies to train and develop workforce aligned with their operational needs in a timely manner.

Member companies of the Association had the opportunity to present their operational needs, challenges, and proposals, laying the groundwork for outlining future initiatives and projects with greater clarity.

Collaboration among the business community, educational institutions, and relevant organizations remains vital for developing a skilled labor, deploying innovative solutions, and managing natural resources more efficiently.

The Economic Chamber of North Macedonia continues to initiate and support these collaborative platforms, ensuring that corporate needs are translated into concrete initiatives, projects, and solutions yielding long-term benefits for the economy.
