Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska Receives “Leading Woman” Statuette at the 30th Anniversary of the “Selection of the Most Successful Women Managers”

Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska, Vice President of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia and Advisor for Economic Development and Infrastructure in the Office of the Chamber President, is among the award-winning women managers recognized at the 30th anniversary edition of the “Selection of the Most Successful Women Managers.”

During her 25-year career, Georgieva-Jovevska has held several key positions within the Chamber, first serving as Secretary General, then as Executive Director, and later as Vice President and Advisor to the Chamber President. Through her management and leadership skills, she has successfully led numerous Chamber initiatives and projects, helping strengthen the position of Macedonian companies and expand chamber networking.

 
Georgieva-Jovevska holds a PhD in Economics from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Economics, specializing in the management of business associations, with a focus on management as a tool for the efficient and effective achievement of chamber of commerce goals and responsibilities.

She began her professional engagement with the Chamber in 2001 as an officer in the Center for European Integration, later serving as Chief of Staff to the Chamber President. From 2005 to 2011, she served as Secretary General of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia. Following reforms to the chamber system in the country, she served as Executive Director from 2011 to 2019, and since May 2019 has held the position of Vice President. Georgieva-Jovevska currently also serves as Advisor to the Chamber President for Economic Development and Infrastructure. Since 2016, she has additionally been President of the Mediation Support Association (APM), an integral part of the Chamber.

As continuous improvement, learning, and education form the basis of her success, she has completed more than 70 trainings, specializations, academies, and similar programs in the country and abroad, and has been directly involved in the implementation of around 15 successful Chamber projects. She is also an internal auditor (ISO 9001:2008) within the Chamber, specializing in document analysis management, document classification, business process mapping, and related fields. She fully participated in the implementation of ISO standards at the Chamber, which became the first business association in the country to introduce the standard in 2008.

In terms of additional qualifications, Georgieva-Jovevska is a licensed expert in material, accounting, and financial operations; a licensed conciliator and arbitrator for the peaceful resolution of labor disputes; a licensed mediator for more than ten years; and a certified trainer of mediators. In June 2022, she was appointed by the RNM Government as the country’s first National Mediation Coordinator. Alongside her regular professional duties, she continuously participates in activities promoting mediation as one of the most effective tools for dispute resolution, particularly within the business community, due to its cost-efficiency, confidentiality, and speed.

On 23 April, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Skopje, the jubilee ceremony organized by Marili Agency was held in the presence of distinguished guests from the country’s socio-economic sphere. A total of 30 awards and statuettes were presented to women managers from across the country representing various sectors and industries, recognized for their long-standing successful management and lasting contribution to the Macedonian economy.

Special guests at the ceremony included the Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, MEcon, the NBRM Vice Governor Ana Mitreska, MSc, whose inspiring speeches, presence, and messages offered strong support for the event, women’s entrepreneurship, and success built through hard work, knowledge, professionalism, and perseverance.

In addition to the existing selection criteria, one of the most important requirements was that the women had held management positions for at least ten years, confirming continuity and professional success. All awardees, nominated by their business colleagues and partners for outstanding management and professionalism, received the bronze “Leading Woman” statuette, created by academic sculptor Prof. Dr. Nikola Smilkov.

Led by Marili General Director Lidija Tripunovska, the event has for many years promoted women’s management, entrepreneurship, and leadership, while contributing to gender equality and the principle of equal opportunities for all.

Alongside the event, the “Business Catalog of the RN Macedonia” is also marking its 30th anniversary and has already been published. The introductory section is dedicated to 35 years of an independent modern Macedonian state, while the publication also features numerous interviews with the awarded women managers, ministers, representatives of business chambers, artists, actors, musicians, and others.

At the ceremonial awards presentation, traditionally held for the 30th time last night, the “Leading Woman” statuette was awarded not only to Dr. Jelisaveta Georgieva-Jovevska, but also to 29 other successful women managers from RN Macedonia.
