The shortage of skilled and qualified labor, which limits the industry's further expansion, has become one of the key challenges for companies in the metal and electrical engineering industries. During the session of the Metal and Electrical Engineering Industry Association of the Economic Chamber, representatives from the participating companies agreed on the necessity of investing in human resource development through vocational education and training to secure a stable workforce that supports growth.
At the same time, the economic challenges facing the export-oriented sector, especially in relation to EU markets, remain significant. These markets are concurrently dealing with serious problems stemming from an ongoing crisis that has evolved in various forms and dimensions over the years. The CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) reporting is also expected to impact the export of products to the European Union due to the mandatory obligations it imposes. The new carbon taxation rules will increase competitiveness in the EU market but will also introduce additional costs for companies in the metal and electrical engineering industries. This aspect was highlighted as a critical factor that will require further efforts to adapt and comply with EU environmental standards.
The session’s discussion also centered on improving the business climate within the country and creating favorable conditions for companies to compete in EU markets. Companies exchanged ideas for new opportunities to increase exports and enhance the international presence of the metal and electrical engineering industries.
At the conclusion of the session, participants noted that the Association will continue its efforts to support companies and address key challenges to ensure the sector's sustainable development and greater competitiveness in the global market.
